Lucid Dreaming

Earlier in the year I spent some time reading about Lucid Dream and Astral Projection. I know I had lucid dreamt many times in the past, though un-aware that’s what they were called. Until recently I had never attempted it intentionally. This is a story about my first successful attempt at inducing a Lucid Dream as well as coming close to Astral Projection.

What is Lucid Dreaming and Astral Projection?

A lucid dream is any dream where one is aware they are dreaming. As you are aware you are dreaming this allows you to have some control of the dream or manipulate your imaginary experience.

Astral Projection is a little different, here I have taken an extract from Wikipedia – Astral projection (or astral travel) is an interpretation of out-of-body experience (OBE) that assumes the existence of an “astral body” separate from the physical body and capable of traveling outside it.[1] Astral projection or travel denotes the astral body leaving thephysical body to travel in the astral plane.

The idea of Astral Projection can be pretty hard for a lot of people to grasp, very interesting though.

Recently I was not feeling to well and I was sleeping on my mates couch spending my time watching documentaries. I woke up at about 6am and very hungry so I ate food, as I was sick I went back to the couch to get more rest. I have noticed when you are sick and sleeping a lot you are not in a fully deep sleep, especially with a documentary playing in the back ground. It’s hard to explain how this came about, I don’t exactly remember but I realised I was in this half awake half dreamy state so I tried to take control of what was happening in my imagination and it worked.

In my dream, I found myself standing in the exact same room I was sleeping in. The difference was though my mate was also standing in the room, as well as my ex girlfriend I had not seen in years. I can’t remember what item it started with but I was holding different things in my hands like you hold a gun in a computer game. I was then in my dream able to switch these items to what ever I wanted. I went through items such as a fishing rod, sword, AK47, pool noodle and I can’t really remember them all. Every time I would switch items my ex girlfriend would laugh her head off. She laughed exactly how she would in person, it truly was as if this was happening for real. My mate was also looking at me and laughing like an idiot. It became a bit of a display of me showing off with excitement on how I could change the object in my hand to what ever I wanted. I was trying to show them things that were ridiculous purely so they could laugh.  As my display continued at some point I realised that while lucid dreaming, or in the semi awake state, that it can be the perfect time to Astral Project.

In my dream I then laid back down on the couch to exactly where I was laying in reality. I started imagining climbing a rope through the roof, which really is an imaginary exercise recommended to induce lucid dreaming. If you get into the right start apparently you are suppose to rise up and have an out of body experience. A way you know this is about to happen is suppose to be feeling intense vibrations. As I imagined to climb my rope to fly through the roof I started to get these intense vibrations. I have never felt anything like this before in my life. Unfortunately, as these vibrations came on I managed to get a bit excited and woke up. I woke up a bit disappointed I had come so close to astral projection but failed. Though, this disappointment was overshadowed by the fun and excitement the dream had given me. I certainly received a  unique form of energy form that dream.

I think something I really enjoyed the most was the vibrations. When reading books on Astral Projection it can be hard to believe feeling something like this, and having such an experience can be real. You can see people who attempt stuff like this as people who could be a little bit crazy, outcast or just stuck on a trip of DMT. This experience completely opened my mind up to other possibilities. I hope that in the future I can achieve Astral Projection as it would be an amazing experience. At least now I have the confidence it is something real, and something special.

Have you ever experienced Astral Projection or had a Lucid Dream? What affects have these had on your reality?

Lucid dreaming is one of the funnest experiences I’ve ever had. My girlfriend introduced me to it after she had figured out how to self induce it and fully control things on the dream without waking herself up. It’s quite addictive, however after you’ve gotten used to it you have to do small things to make sure that you are indeed sleeping and haven’t simply woken up during the night. One night she thought she was dreaming so she went to the kitchen and filled up a bucket with ice and water and dumped it on me. Not the greatest way to wake up at 3am. She’s now more careful to make sure that she is indeed dreaming before she does something stupid. A way she does it is by looking at her ring on her right hand or glancing at her watch every do often during the day so she knows it’s not real. A bit like inception!

It’s interesting that you dreamed about your ex though. Has she been on your mind? Our dreams started off rather basic and close to our everyday lives before we could spin them out of control and imagine dinosaurs and walking on Coral reefs.

However I’ve never heard of astral projection. We’d definitely check that out! I’m stoked that you’re trying out lucid dreaming, it’s a rad experience totally within your control once you’ve mastered it.

I think it is funny your girlfriend wanted to pour a bucket of iced water on you in a dream she is controlling!

Haha no my X isn’t on my mind. We are good friends these days! Only 1 girl on my mind I never hear from any more!

Yes, I too was surprised that she chose to do that, but it’s not like she didn’t make it up to me later. I guess her inner child is still roaming free in there. i’m just happy that she didn’t jump out the window to fly or something!

We tried astral projection last night, but neither of us managed to do it. I think it’s because we weren’t calm or focused enough. She said she felt some sort of vibration but it started to tickle her and she woke up laughing. We’ll keep on trying until we get it.

You can always cheat and smoke DMT, though it is illegal. Here is a nice article on the science behind it, I think it will help boost the confidence on something that is real, as opposed to something that sounds sci-fi with a spiritual name.

Some people say you can Astral Project at the same time and meet each other, but this I do not believe just yet..

In that article I learnt that it was my emotion, the excitement that changed my breathing that took me out of sleep paralysis, so I could not Astral Project.

      Enjoy!

By calling it instinct, they leave themselves room to have
a certain belief that undermines the envy. So why sit down on the
sidelines, considering that this may all be hokum. To become lucid this fashion, you
must recognize that you’re dreaming when.

I have had lucid dreams in which I was able to fly and jump over coebidnrasle distance (sort of like the hulk). I’d rather not touch upon the generalizations and opinions, for you are entitled to them. If it means anything, in humble opinion, the restrictions that we face in the dream state are mostly self-imposed, whether that is conscious or subconscious is something that is debatable. I’d lean towards a bit of both. Keep on dreaming, bro.
