Are you stuck in a rut of being to tired to exercise?

Then stressed out because you are missing out on exercise?

Try these simple methods of self motivation!

Consider your surroundings!

Humans dramatically feed off the energy and the motivation of those around them. You don’t need to delete your friends list off facebook, but try surrounding yourself with highly motivated people at work and in your spare time. Sometimes all it can take is a 5 minute conversation with someone intensely motivated to do something awesome to trigger a fresh new desire in your mind and motivate yourself to aim for a new life goal and be on your way to achieving it. If people are doubting you and holding you back just bench them!  If you can’t think where to find passionate people try sports and hobby clubs. There really is something for everyone. Don’t be stuck in a system where you are expected to have the same life goals as your friends that happened to live in the same suburb and go to the same school, dont be shy and  branch out! Most of all remember the more motivated you are, the more motivated those around you will be. Escape The System!

Facebook Groups

I know there is a massive hate on facebook these days and wasting to much time on it. Which is entirely true. However try adding pages of interest such as sports, hobbies, photography, music and philosophy etc. Search for everything you have an interest in, don’t just like what shows up in your news feed, hunt for it! Then when on facebook just use the page reader instead of the news feed. Now its just interest related posts, memes and videos. No more depressing status updates reading about what your mate from up the road ate for dinner! Same goes for twitter! (subscribe to this page on FB and twitter for a start!)

Youtube,Youtube, Youtube. Seriously. Youtube.  If you know you should go for a run but you can’t be bothered then a 3 minute youtube clip can change all that. Search for ultramarathons and you will be inspired by others. Use this tactic for anything! Watch short videos of hobbies or life goals and be inspired by what you see. Watching video online is totally different to on tv. Stop watching tv now. What you are watching is forced on you. When you are watching TV you are in a “sitting back” position where you are relaxed and just flicking to the best thing of say 5-20 options. When you watch online video you are “sitting forward” and you can change what you are watching in a matter of seconds. Have a life dream? Chances are someone else has had the same goal and made a video on it.

Don’t even think of the tabloid garbage that creates depression and eating disorders or pushes materialistic and egotistical ideology. I mean travel, science, sport and hobby magazines! A good trick to motivate others is to leave a magazine that may motivate them just conveniently laying around where they will find it. Though remember with magazines they all make their money with advertising so most articles are trying to sell you something. But if being motivated to start a new gym program costs a bucket of protein, who cares?

This one would be obvious, but not enough people know how to use it to their advantage. It has been proven that the style of music played in gyms, cafes, restaurants, public areas etc effects the people that will be there, the way they will act and how long they will stay! If you are tired on the train heading home from work, pump the dance to give you the energy boost to get out and do something instead of the nightly couch/facebook rut! Create different playlists for different activities. Changing the style of music slowly over a playlist can make a big difference when heading out for a huge run or training session! This seriously works! If you know a certain song or album gets you pumped, save it for when you the pick me up!

There is blogs out there for everything. They are such a great way to connect to closely minded people. My favourite is HigherExistence, it is super motivating and really opens up the mind to positive free thinking. Instead of hitting your favourite news app in your phone as you eat each day add a feed reader like feeddler RSS. Add all blogs of interest here and have fresh motivation each morning at the tip of your finger. Make this page your first subscription for a start!

Put a conscious effort into choosing which book you read each night by picking something that will inspire or motivate you. Why read a biography by someone who got caught drug smuggling on the trip of their life when you can read a book that can inspire you to save and head away on yours? Head to the library and get searching or hit up a major supplier on the internet like amazon. Your tiny local book store is way to small and only targets a commercial market, true inspiration comes from those niche books that are not in major production. With a kindle you can get so many awesome books for very cheap or for free. Just because you start reading a book does not mean you need to finish it. Don’t feel as if you need to finish one book before you move onto another, just read the parts that are going to inspire and motivate you to hunt for more knowledge.

Remember it is just as important to cut anything negative or dragging you down out of your life, this frees up more time to be inspired and inspiring!

I do watch videos/film/tv etc on my computer. If you find me watching a movie or fictional tv show that usually means I am completely exhausted. The way my brain works I am just always being productive in some sense, it is what I enjoy personally but I understand this is not for everyone.
I think I am very open minded, I actually try to make people think “outside the box” a little bit more. Push the boundaries and the possibilities. I even do little things like take the stairs instead of escalators etc for when it comes to fitness. I hardly ever go to the gym or think of fitness training as “working out”. It is usually just fun for me.
I do have an “actual job” that you will find is very in depth. It took me a long time to learn everything I needed to know and get the qualifications I needed to do the work. I also need a moderate level of fitness to go to work. It can be quite tiring. I still go to the gym, swim or do some creative work on my computer after every night, and sometimes before work at 4am.
With my blog I am not trying to get everyone to leave their homes and live like me, be like me etc. I want people to watch me push the boundaries of what one person can be capable of by pushing my own comfort zone and the limits of myself both physically and mentally. If any one would like to follow me on this journey I hope this brings more positive energy to their lives in any possible way.
